My name is Leonard (people call me leon). I am located in Singapore.

I knew nothing about blogging, internet or online marketing before. I only used my computer to check email and store documents.

I started my online journey in August 2006. The first 4 months was all about learning and studying. I think I am a slow learner. I bought a lot of e-books during these months. I bought any new e-books that came along my way hoping to learn the secrets of making a lot of moola online. But, I made a big mistake because I didn’t take any action. I only started to put in consistent effort in May 2007. Needless to say that I only start to see some results when I actually get my hands dirty. No Action = No Result! That’s a guarantee.

Some of the ebooks I bought are great, I learned a lot from them. But some have very little value, they are over-promised and under-delivered. I think those people who are selling craps are not smart at all because they can cheat people once but after that he/she will lose that customer. The customer will never buy anything from him or her again.

Anyway, I regard all these as my personal or self-development journey in the online world.

I do come across some honest ones (the real and honest gurus online) and I respect them a lot. Although I’ve never met them in person, I still can communicate and learn from them. These people are smart, they are here to do long-term business. They provide great service and always try to over deliver. They build trust and good relationships with their customers. So when they promote something, the customers will listen and feel safe buying from their recommendation.

I sincerely think we all need to be real and honest doing business online. My guiding principle is simple: think long-term and always do business based on honesty, trust and good relationships. Business is all about relationships. The better you can build trust and relationships with your customers, the longer they will stay as your customers.

Internet Marketing is a very exciting world, full of opportunities! But full of hype, scams and white lie too. For the newbies, I always advise them to equip themselves with a proper knowledge. The first step to internet marketing is education! Again, self-development is the KEY. You got to have the proper knowledge so that you’re able to distinguish the real deal from the scams.

By the way, there is no secret in internet marketing. If you come across someone promising you that they have all the secrets that can make you rich overnight, please ignore it. It’s simply not true, there is no such thing as a secret that can make you rich overnight.

All successful individuals I know, have gone through a process, none of them get their success overnight. They all have work hard and built their fortune through persistence, perseverance and dedication.

So if you’re still hunting for that secret, my advice to you is stop searching and start working. If you’re new, start with a self-study, the Internet is the best place for your self-study. If you don’t like searching and surfing the Net then go and look for some seminars to attend, where you can meet and talk to many like-minded people.

One last thing, although internet marketing is about doing business online, please don’t glue yourself in front of your PC all the time. You must also do networking offline, go and attend seminars, get to know people, learn from one another, make friends and keep in touch with them. Most of the successful JV partners met each other offline. Keep that in mind.
