Lessons in Entrepreneurship - How to Steal a Business

Let’s say super-CPA John Doe wants to get more business. He would pay a fee, be interviewed by the production company in their studios, and the resulting tape would be aired on TV. Then, Doe could post the interview to his web site, send it to other media outlets, and hand it to potential clients.

The POWER of Networking

First, networking is not multi level marketing or MLM. Networking is a skill of generating business. Of course, a successful MLMer will always possess great networking skills but networking is also used in any other form of business. In fact, all successful entrepreneurs possess great networking skills.

Every single human being also needs to network. For example, we network with friends, colleagues and families. So networking is actually more like an attitude or approach to life. Inside every one of us, we all have a spirit of giving and sharing.

Therefore networking is NOT…

  • Selling.
  • Pestering people about your business or opportunity.
  • Manipulating people to do what you want.
  • Using people for your gain.

Don’t be a networking mongrel. A networking mongrel is someone who only focuses on his or her own agenda rather than listening with interest to others. During an interaction, a mongrel will always interrupt you inappropriately. If you have had a bad networking experience, it’s most likely due to an abuse or misuse of networking by a mongrel.

When networking is used properly, it’s like talking to your best friend, nobody should feel pressured or manipulated or put on the spot. The power of networking is to give and get information, a conversation where both parties are feeling safe, ideas are exchanged and shared freely.

If done properly and in a respectful way, networking will give you the power to accomplish your dreams and goals. If you feel that you are not getting much out of life, then it’s time for you to clarify your goals and fine-tune your focus. Everyone has a vast network resources in existence which are often forgotten.

So start sharpening your focus and activating your network resources to attain the success you always wanted.

Are Entrepreneurship and Leadership the Same?

Do entrepreneurs and leaders possess some or all of the same qualities?

These thoughts struck when thinking about the qualities of leaders in business. Good leaders are usually strong willed, so are entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurs possess the self confidence to follow their dream and achieve goals, more in a strategic and planned sense, so do good leaders.

    Is Entrepreneurship Born or Bred?

Some people believe that entrepreneurship is born, it’s all in the genes, either you have it or you don’t. Some of the important traits that all entrepreneurs have in common are ability to take risks, ability to see opportunities in a crisis and ability to persevere in the face of difficulty.

I believe the seed and spirit of entrepreneurship are in all of us. However, they need to be nurtured and cultivated in order to manifest into the traits and characteristics that all entrepreneurs possess.

There is strong evidence that genes are not the only factor that shape entrepreneurs. For example, even within the same family, not all brothers and sisters will grow up to become entrepreneurs. Perhaps only one child will become entrepreneur.

So entrepreneurs are not born, they are actually raised and bred.
