Improve Yourself Everyday To Create A Successful Life

I have a family member whose nightly routine is to come home, make dinner, eat, have a few beers or glasses of wine and spend the rest of the evening watching T.V. This is the same family member whose belief system is built on negativity and her paradigm is that results or circumstances in her life are always based on someone or something else’s actions. Comment’s such as, nothing good ever happens to me, just my luck or even, if I ever win the lottery then etc., etc., etc. As a result she doesn’t enjoy a successful life.

Unfortunately, she is only one in a large majority who feels and lives their lives this way. This is a very sad state for anyone to be in. However, there is an answer to this problem. There is one thing that needs to be done to change that outcome. And, you only have to do that one thing every day. That one thing is: do something to improve upon you everyday in order to create a successful life. That is all and it is something so easy to do. This is something almost everyone can accomplish if they set their mind to it and take the time required for positive change.

When you take time to conscientiously work on or improve yourself, you start taking control of your life. As these improvements or changes take place, you start recognizing not only the ability but responsibility as well, that you have in taking charge of what happens in your life. You start creating your circumstances rather than them just happening. You start determining your life’s path rather than just walking on the road in front of you. Plus, you begin seeing things in a more positive manner.

When you are able to stop looking at things from a negative point of view, your whole world can change.

Here are some suggestions for daily improvement actions:

> Read articles or books about self help topics or positive, uplifting stories

> Find a positive creed and read it everyday

> Start practicing daily meditation techniques.

> Find a hobby to start learning about or actively pursue

> Take courses at a local community college on a subject you are interested in

> Volunteer at a non-profit organization of your choice

> Play in a recreational sporting league

> Begin a fitness or health plan if you don’t already have one

> Commit to learning one new positive quote everyday

This list can continue on for awhile with several other options that could be given as well.

The bottom line is to conscientiously do something, anything to start making you a better you. You will be amazed at the difference that will make in your life. And, incorporating this daily action will cause new thoughts and create paradigm shifts. Instead of stumbling down the road of life making lists of things you wished you had achieved, you’ll be paving the avenue of a successful life and checking off the list of goals accomplished.

How To Stay Happy When Bad Stuff Happens

Is it possible to stay happy when it all kicks off?

Can you remain positive and think happy things immediately after an argument?

How can you stay happy when bad stuff happens?

Trying to stay positive even when not so good stuff is happening appears like a massive challenge. It’s actually easier than you think, but it’s likely that you’ve just never practiced it before and therefore it will be new to you to begin with.

First of all, after you’ve had an argument with someone you’ve allowed your vibration (mood) to significantly drop then you will no longer have access to happy, bright and loving emotions and feelings. Pretending that all is well and that nothing happened isn’t going to do you any favors.

When you feel bad, you can’t hide it from the universe which listens to your vibration and not your words or thoughts. Trying to do so is futile.

Instead, the way to stay happy even when something bad has happened is to work your way up your emotional scale gradually.

Let’s say you’ve just had an argument with your mother. You feel miserable because she isn’t listening to you and she wants you to do something that you have no interest in doing what-so-ever.

Instead of going off in a huff and thinking about it continuously for the next couple of days, take a moment to stop in the moment and take a few deep breaths. After stopping for a moment you can now begin to work your way up your emotional ladder.

The idea is that you want to poke around in your mind and find a thought that feels better than what you were just thinking. That does not mean you are looking for “I’m so happy and I love everything” type of thoughts. You just won’t have access to them, so don’t even try and fake it.

Here’s an example.

“I feel miserable because my mother wants me to do something I don’t want to do”

Poke around and find a better thought… Here’s what you might come up with next: “I don’t have to do it if I don’t want to”

Now, does this thought feel better than the original one? If it does, then you’ve just made massive headway already. Although its only a subtle difference, you’re actually feeling a little bit better than you were doing a few moments before playing this game.

The idea is to continue on with this game until you’re in a happy place. Regardless of how long you think this game will take to get you into a happier place, I can assure you that with just a little bit of effort, you’ll be feeling TONS better than you did if you weren’t to play the game.

Let’s continue with our example…

“I’m glad I can make my own decisions and have the freedom to do so”

“Although I don’t agree with what she wants me to do, she was doing it for my benefit”

“Thank god I don’t live with her anymore!”

Can you see how we’re gradually working our way out of where we were before and stepping into a much better place. What you’ll find is that as you move up your emotional ladder you will no longer have access to those miserable thoughts that you had when you started, instead you will have access to the thoughts that you’ve immediately been thinking.

Whilst playing this game you may also notice that you’ll get thoughts that try to bring you down your emotional ladder. Instead of giving them your attention, continue to poke around in your mind to find thoughts that feel better. Take your attention away from those thoughts that don’t serve you and put your attention on ones that do.

Why Is It So Hard To Break A Bad Habit?

Habitual activity is yet another item on the long list of constants among all people. This, of course, includes good habits as well as bad habits – such as smoking, drinking, overeating, nail biting, procrastination. It’s often difficult to understand why we create habits for activities that are bad for us either physically, emotionally, or socially, especially when we consider the consequences, but somehow we do. Luckily, many hours of research have been put into finding out the basic causes of bad habits.

Certainly a lot of progress has been made in that area, but that doesn’t mean much to the masses of us who have bad habits and want to get rid of them. Basically, what we want is an answer. Preferably a quick answer. Something in the way of a miracle cure, if possible.

Unfortunately, there are no miracle cures when it comes to breaking a bad habit. It’s true what they say, that it takes some work and commitment. But it can be done. There’s at least enough anecdotal evidence to give us hope. For example, most of us know someone who’s been able to quit smoking for good, or stop overeating and lose weight. But how did they do it?

The truth is that most people break their bad habit through the use of a mentor, or expert in their field. So some people hire or read books by nutrition experts to help them improve their diet. Some people watch exercise videos or get a physical trainer to lose weight. Some people join Alcoholics Anonymous. And so on.

It’s the exceptionally rare person who is able to quit a habit without outside help and through sheer force of will. I know a lot of us like to think that we have strong enough will power to stop whenever we want, but the fact of the matter is that few of us do. Which is why few of us ever break our bad habits.

You see, simply forcing yourself to stop a habit leaves you with a void, one that you used to fill with that habit. So if you are the type of person who snacks on chocolate while you watch TV, and you want to stop snacking and lose weight, then if you simply stop snacking, every time you watch TV, you’ll continue to have a strong urge to snack some more because that’s what you’ve always done. It’s more the habit that you’re addicted to than the chocolate. And eventually, you’ll go back to it.

So the trick, simplistically put, is to replace your snacking habit with a different, positive habit - even if it’s simply snacking on something healthy, like fruits and nuts. So rather than participating in your negative habit, you’re now participating in a positive habit that is good for you and helps you feel better about yourself.

Look at it this way: what are the positives of breaking your bad habit? Will you feel better physically? Will you save money by not spending it on your habit? Will you lose weight? Will your chewed up fingernails look better? Will you get your work done earlier?

Then think about the rewards that come from these positives: If I don’t spend money on cigarettes for a few months, I’ll have enough money for a weekend getaway. If I get my work done earlier, I won’t have to stay late, and I’ll have more time with my family. If I lose weight, I’ll have enough energy to go back to playing football on the weekends with my friends. What will the rewards be for you?

Of course, it isn’t just that easy to do. It will take some time and effort, and the right coaching. I do believe that an expert coach is a must for most of us when it comes to breaking bad habits. And it has to be the type of coach who approaches your habit from a positive point of view. One who encourages you, makes you feel good about yourself, and makes you want to participate in your positive habits.

So my suggestion to you is to find an expert in the right field, who has the right credentials, and who wants you to succeed more than they want to make a quick buck off of your pain. The right coach is out there. You can find one.

Good luck with your habit breaking efforts.

Stop Procrastination And Take Action

Procrastination is a bad habit that can turn into a rapidly downward spiralling journey. It starts of innocently as an avoidance of tasks and responsibilities that need to be fulfilled, but if allowed to develop can turn into a nasty habit. There are many negative and harmful effects of procrastination, and it is vital that you learn to recognize the signs and take action to stop procrastinating.

If you have acknowledged that you have a problem, its time you sat up and did something about it. Don’t let procrastination ruin your life, relationships and job. Here are some suggestions that we have to encourage you to stop procrastinating.

Tip #1: Positive thinking

There is no such vocabulary as “cannot be done”. Your responsibilities can be done, no matter how daunting and challenging they may seem initially. Tell yourself that you can do it, and that you choose to do so. Recognize the fact that procrastinating is bad for you, and that you choose to overcome it, either by speaking to someone you trust to guide you, or by other self help means. The key here is that you want to overcome your habit of procrastinating, and that you choose to take positive action to do so.

Tip #2: Be Well Equipped

Part of getting any task done is having the right tools to do it. Make sure that you are well equipped mentally as well as physically. If it is an assignment that is due, make sure that you have done your research, or spoken to the tutors or superiors that you should have spoken to. Draw up a schedule to help you plan out what needs to be done, and what you have to do to accomplish your task.

Tip #3: Be Realistic

It is impossible to suddenly quite being procrastinating. Understand that it is as much a bad habit similar to smoking or drugs, and you need time to overcome this problem. Set yourself realistic goals, and draw up a chart to show yourself improving. Give yourself rewards for finishing tasks on time and before deadlines. With regards to your responsibilities, make realistic plans on how to go about doing them. Do not expect yourself to finish a 10,000 word assignment in a day, but space out your preparation and actual work over a reasonable amount of time.

Tip #4: Prioritize

You have a dozen tasks to complete, but you need to pick one. And that’s where you first started procrastinating, by choosing the easiest and least consequential task. Draw up a to-do list, and mark each item as urgent, important and unimportant. Do the tasks that are urgent and important first. Plan your time wisely and allow for breaks, which are just as important for you to unwind and relax your mind so that you don’t get too stressed.

Tip #5: Take Small Steps

It is no point to set yourself the task of scaling Mount Everest, when you have trouble climbing up two flights of stairs. You are overcoming the bad habit of procrastinating, do not expect miracles to happen just because you have decided to act and stop procrastinating. For each task that may seem Herculean, break it down into small components and parts that can be accomplished separately. Set about completing these small parts, instead of attempting to conquer the entire project in one go. You will find it more manageable and less daunting, and succeeding at each step will motivate you to give yourself a pat on the back.

It is possible to overcome procrastination, you just need to put your back into it and persevere. Use these 5 tips to stop procrastination and take action today.

Developing Skills To Achieve Your Goals

When setting goals it is important not to sell yourself short. Always set a goal that will have meaning when you reach it. Setting achievable goals does not mean giving up ambitious dreams, instead it means setting intermediate achievable goals long the way. For example, if your goal is to lose, say, 30 pounds, then break this down into achievable steps of losing 5 pounds per month. More emphasis needs to be placed on setting smaller achievable goals and developing skills to achieve goals is an important step.

So, sit down and set yourself a realistically achievable goal. We’ve already talked about setting realistic weight loss goals so let’s use the example of returning to the workforce. Perhaps starting back part-time would be one way of easing back into it. On the other hand, it may not be realistic to say, “I want to generate this amount of income within the next three months”. It may be more worthwhile to say, “I want to be working three days per week at the end of two months”. If the goal is too large it will seem unachievable and you will become frustrated and give up.

That’s why realistic goals are so important. Decide on realistic changes you need to make to your life. The key in setting goals is making sure that you are not making it too hard – and therefore setting yourself up for failure – or too easy for yourself.

In order for your resolutions to be effective, they need to be specific to you and realistic. Try running your goal by a friend or family member. They should be able to tell you if your goal is realistic for you or not. Goal setting, however, is not simply about wanting to do something; it is also about being able to articulate what the goal is about, and understanding what parameters you can measure your progress against. When applied to your personal and professional life, goal setting is about taking control of the way your life evolves.

All you objectives should have a clear time frame, be measurable, and realistically reflect your capabilities. A time line will help you visualize how you should be progressing towards your goal and where you need to concentrate your efforts. If your become dispirited in it is often because your expectations are unrealistic. Goals can be set that are impossible to achieve causing the person to repeatedly fail and becomes frustrated and give up.

All kinds of people – family, friends, work colleagues and society – can put unwarranted pressure on you which can almost guarantee failure. These people often do this in ignorance of your true goals and aspirations. So make sure that you are alert to outside influences that could restrict your ability to achieve your dreams.

Set yourself achievable goals and reward yourself as each milestone is reached and longer term goals are set. Aim to actively pursue your goal for a set time each day. Of course, to reach your end goal you will need to set yourself intermediate goals to get there.

Let your daily actions be a reward, not just an end result. Allow yourself to enjoy the journey and don’t obsess about the future. Achieving your goals shouldn’t be an ordeal; it can and should be pleasurable as you develop more skills. A final word about achieving your goals is to continue to focus on the outcome and never give up.

Your Words Are The First Step In Deliberate Creation

The Law of Attraction is a theory commonly associated with New Thought and New Age philosophy. The Law of Attraction is not a new concept. Even Buddha said that ‘All that we are is the result of what we have thought.’ Again in the New Testament of the Bible, Jesus has said ‘It is done to you as you believe…’ This law hypothesizes that one should by no means dwell on the negative, as the metaphysical principle of life is embodied in the Law of Attraction.

The Law of Attraction says that all the images of the mind and the feelings are connected to thoughts which later manifest as reality. In other words, everything in our life has been attracted to us through our mind. The Law of Attraction is also known as the Law of Magnetism, the Power of Thought and Success Consciousness.

What you say determines what you will think. What you think will determine what you feel. What you feel will determine what you manifest. Your words therefore are extremely important that you get them right.

You’ve probably heard it time and time again that it is your thoughts that are doing all of attraction. But in fact it isn’t your thoughts at all. The universe doesn’t hear your thoughts nor does it see the pictures in your mind. It simply responds to the vibration that emanates from your emotions.

The Law of Attraction is true for everyone. This Law is universal because it does not care who you are or what religious belief you subscribe to. It is as true and universal as the Law of Gravity.

Your words are directly influencing your thoughts so it would make sense that if you words are the first link in the chain then they are equally important as your thoughts and emotions. Reality exists in varying states of vibration. Our physical realm vibrates on a lower frequency than our mental realm, which vibrates much faster. Our thoughts are a part of this realm, with a much higher frequency of vibration than physical reality. Our bodies are part of the denser, slower-vibrating physical plane. Yet, as a being that is connected to source energy we are able to create our desires in the higher frequency and bring it into manifestation in the physical.

When you speak you are not just expressing yourself in a verbal manner, but you are shaping your world around you. Pay attention to the conversation of people with money, often you will find them speaking about the subject of money. Whether they are conscious of this or not, the act alone is just one of the steps that help to produce their manifestations.

Remember to pay close attention to your words as they will ultimately determine your overall emotions. Whether you speak your words in your mind or out loud, you will always hear every utterance. So make sure what you say is what you want.

The Law of Attraction says that if a person focuses on positive things, they will attract good things into their life. If they focus on negative things then they are likely to perpetuate difficulty. This is the root of the Law.

To believe that everything works for our highest good, we need to trust in the Universal Law of Attraction which works through us and uses our experiences to expand our consciousness. Let us therefore use the Law of Attraction to make the world a more joyful and loving place to live.

Timeless Thoughts On Mindsets And Abundance

“Life is what we make it. Always has been. Always will be.” Grandma Moses

Whether you choose to admit it or not, you are responsible for your life the way it is today. I know that this is a very heavy statement as you may say, “I am not responsible for the car accident I got into,” or “my spouse leaving me,” or a myriad of other things which may have happened to you. I can hear you saying, “It was someone else’s fault!”

Yes, it may have been, however; the way you choose to react to any situation in life is in your control. Always has been. Always will be. Whether you choose to acknowledge this or not, that is up to you. You are responsible for choosing the way you think whether you wish to accept it or not. It is very much like the Law of Gravity. Regardless of your beliefs about gravity, it is going to affect you in the same manner in which it affects everyone else.

The truth is that we all experience difficult circumstances. Things that we wish would have never happened. Things that are painful and seem out of our control. Yet we must face them, deal with them, and do whatever it takes to overcome them as best as we can.

How we choose to react to our life is simply a matter of how we choose to think. It is our mindset towards life which will determine the extent to which we will experience all that life has to offer.

So what exactly is a mindset? Simply put, a mindset is an individual’s particular way of thinking on a given subject. We all have many different mindsets when it comes to life. We have a mindset on spirituality, on health, on wealth, or relationships, and so on.

Our mindset on a given subject is greatly responsible for the results we are going to experience in that area. It is very possible for an individual to have an abundance mindset when it comes to wealth, but a poor mindset when it comes to health. They may be extremely rich but can be unhealthy because of the way they choose to look at the importance of being healthy.

Balance is the key to long term happiness. Happiness is the result of a balanced life. A life where we have our finances in order, our health in good shape, and our relationships in such a manner that we can count on people in time of need. It is crucial to have a balanced mindset towards life and recognize the importance of many areas which need be simultaneously addressed as opposed to putting all of our time and energy in one particular area.

Our mindsets greatly determine what we will experience in life. This is because we live life validating our beliefs and ways of thinking throughout all of our experiences.

It is to say that we do not see things as what they are but instead see things for the way we are.

Like all aspects of life, mindsets can either be negative or positive. Negative mindsets focus on limitations, whereas positive mindsets focus on abundance.

Each and every single one of us has our own particular way of thinking when it comes to the many different subjects of life. Most of this thinking has been absorbed from our parents, culture, education, religion, and life experiences.

Put another way, our mindset on a specific subject is the sum of all our feelings, thoughts, beliefs, and convictions around the topic.

As you may have heard before; being wealthy is not about how much money you have, but rather a state of mind or way of thinking. What that essentially means is those who are wealthy simply have a wealthy mindset. Their feelings, thoughts, and beliefs all affirm their conviction of earning and accumulating massive amounts of wealth.

These individuals believe to their core that they are worthy of earning huge amounts of money and have an abundance mindset when it comes to the subject of wealth. It is all about how they think. This principle is found to be true when rich individuals accumulate a huge amount of wealth, only to lose it, and then gain it back again. They are wealthy because of their mindset, not because of they money since it very possible to lose it all due to unfortunate business circumstances.

So what do mindsets have to do with abundance?

Abundance is an extremely important universal quality. It is due to an abundance of resources that life is still around today.

Abundance can be simply defined as a forever increasing supply, always higher in quantity than a forever increasing demand. Abundance is at the very core of our existence. It is at the center of the process which keeps the universe expanding and the earth peacefully existing.

Without an abundance of food and other necessities such as oxygen, we would not be alive today. The universe has this amazing abundance quality that always provides more that what is needed.

When it comes to mindsets, an abundance mindset is a way of thinking, being, and living which is in alignment with the eternal principles of supply that are responsible for the advancement of life.

Choosing to live an abundance mindset in a particular area of life is to know that no matter what your needs are, they will be met because the supply will never run out. It may take time but your desires will always be fulfilled.

An example of a person choosing an abundance mindset would be one who realizes, metaphorically speaking, that there is plenty of pie to go around for everyone. Even if they were unable to get a slice of this particular pie that they wanted, there will be more pies coming from which they can receive.

An abundance mindset applies to all aspects of one’s life. The most important ones being spirituality, health, wealth, relationships, and life in general.

Knowing that the universe will always provide anything to any being who desires to create more life for all results in a deep feeling of peace within oneself. It is this feeling which will put an individual at peace with themselves regardless of the present circumstances in their life.
