I like the thought of balance. Too much positive thinking, left unchecked by caution can actually be dangerous. At the same time a preponderance of gloom and doom is equally unproductive. Yes it is powerful to visualize what we want in life and to see it with passion. To put thinks into perspective, it may be wise to visualize within the realm of strengths, not weaknesses. For example, with my musicians' temperament, I would probably not make a good lawyer. This is why living bonded to community is so important for we learn our strengths in part throught relationships. Happiness comes from a combination of positive thinking, living in sync with our talents, and action relative with what we want. Positive thinking is the important beginning, but it is not the whole picture. Barbara Altman, author of soon to be released "Cry Depression, Celebrate recovery."
