First, networking is not multi level marketing or MLM. Networking is a skill of generating business. Of course, a successful MLMer will always possess great networking skills but networking is also used in any other form of business. In fact, all successful entrepreneurs possess great networking skills.
Every single human being also needs to network. For example, we network with friends, colleagues and families. So networking is actually more like an attitude or approach to life. Inside every one of us, we all have a spirit of giving and sharing.
Therefore networking is NOT…
- Selling.
- Pestering people about your business or opportunity.
- Manipulating people to do what you want.
- Using people for your gain.
Don’t be a networking mongrel. A networking mongrel is someone who only focuses on his or her own agenda rather than listening with interest to others. During an interaction, a mongrel will always interrupt you inappropriately. If you have had a bad networking experience, it’s most likely due to an abuse or misuse of networking by a mongrel.
When networking is used properly, it’s like talking to your best friend, nobody should feel pressured or manipulated or put on the spot. The power of networking is to give and get information, a conversation where both parties are feeling safe, ideas are exchanged and shared freely.
If done properly and in a respectful way, networking will give you the power to accomplish your dreams and goals. If you feel that you are not getting much out of life, then it’s time for you to clarify your goals and fine-tune your focus. Everyone has a vast network resources in existence which are often forgotten.
So start sharpening your focus and activating your network resources to attain the success you always wanted.
