Energy and the Law of Attraction
Energy-The New Frontier… It’s actually not such a new frontier, but as traditional Scientists are working more closely with Metaphysicians, the everyday person is beginning to understand how using the energy around us can create fulfilling lives. The Law of Attraction (like attracts like), and how it relates to energy, has been a topic that’s been pulled & pushed around a lot in recent years. Much has been revealed, but the subject still raises many questions.
We are made of energy–everything that surrounds us is energy, including space. There is no separation. …Whatever. If this whole energy-law of attraction thing is true why don’t we as human beings do more things to support and help each other? When was the last time someone came over to borrow a cup of sugar (or Splenda)? If like really does attract like wouldn’t it be a lot easier to attract a next-door neighbor who was friendly and interesting, like you? And, why do you feel anything but connected when you are sitting at home the week after the American Idol finale, and you don’t have anyone to call or hang out with? Why has reading alone become less of a hobby and more of an addiction? You sincerely want to attract close relationships, and a feeling connectedness– so what’s the deal?!
Didn’t it seem easier when you were a kid to find a friend and play? You didn’t need money for the movies, or even for an orange soda to occupy your senses. Your fun came out of the connection with your friend. Sometimes you didn’t even know each other that well. Your being was closer to divine energy then. …Whatever. A lot of crap can happen from age seven to twenty-seven (not to mention forty-seven). Hurt, cynicism, and ego hadn’t taken hold of your energy, and tied it in knots. Your natural inclination was to trust, to explore, to search out for what you desired–what you needed. You didn’t always get what you wanted, but then you were on to the next thing. And when you didn’t get that, you imagined, you dreamt.
Growing up can reek havoc on your dreams–if you let it! And, yet, many times our dreams give way to responsibilities. What if you could get in touch with your divine energy again? Many people don’t even remember experiencing that lightness as a kid (some of us have had rougher childhoods than others). But, no matter–we ALL have access to it. If you call and know yourself to be a human being that creative energy is already in you waiting to be set free.
You are intelligent, good people. You know it takes more than thinking positive. If you really want to attract happiness (and whatever that means to you), you have to change your beliefs. This is not easy. Beliefs systems are deeply rooted and stored in the unconscious part of the brain. This is the part of our brain we use about 96% of the time.
So what’s a girl (or guy) to do? Start working on it now! Just as your old beliefs took time to form, new ones also take time to form. Your old belief systems may have told you something like, “You’re not good enough to <fill in your worst fear>. This belief probably started as a comment from a trusted someone. You may have rejected this comment at the time, but it stayed with you. Much as you didn’t want to, you thought about it, and thought about it, and thought about it. You failed the test–belief affirmed. You lost the girl (or boy)–belief affirmed. You got fired–belief affirmed.
So why not start filling your mind with new beliefs? Imagine you have a fountain in your yard, and you have been neglecting it. The water is dirty with mosquito larva, tadpoles, and fallen leaves. What used to inspire you, is now just a reminder of what a loser you are.
Now imagine taking a garden hose, and twisting on the faucet, so the water is coming out full force. Move the spout so this fresh water is gushing into your neglected fountain. Little by little the old water begins to trickle out of the fountain. And before you know it, all the unwanted debris is gone, and what is in its place is a pure, clean source. Energy, like the water, flows more freely now.
Your new, positive beliefs, like water from the hose, should feed your mind in a steady stream. …Whatever. If you are like me, this sounds like work. It kinda is. To have a clean house and a clear mind requires upkeep. This is not a time to call for maid service. The good news is, you can do this! Just start and be kind to yourself. Let yourself know that you have this divine energy at your disposal and you can have an incredibly fulfilling life. And don’t forget to say, “Thank you”.
Here’s a quick review for those of you that like lists:
1. Realize that you are energy.
2. Understand the Law of Attraction–You get what you give.
3. Acknowledge your questions & doubts.
4. Release them, knowing all the answers reside in you.
5. Create a new belief system based on the fact that this divine energy is a part of you. Repeat new thoughts to yourself everyday, until they become your new beliefs.
6. Say, “Thank you,” everyday, several times a day.
Slowly the knots of your energy will begin to unwind, and you will get unexpected insights. Work will become less of a chore, and play will be more fun. Soon it will be difficult to differentiate between the two. Starting to understand how life works will make you feel like a kid again (or something better). Your surroundings and the people you come into contact with will capture your attention in a new way. As vibrational beings, your renewed beliefs will create a magnet for life-enhancing scenarios and people that resonate at the same positive frequency.
As always, your thoughts (the seeds of our beliefs) are important. However, it’s perfectly natural, and okay that you have negative thoughts. If you didn’t, you could call it day, reclaim your Sainthood, and fashion your halo. Acknowledge your discursive thoughts, and then replace them with more appropriate ones. Shake out the garden hose if it has kinks in it. Breathe. The flow of energy will start again, carrying your pure source. Use it, direct it, and create with it. And, don’t be surprised when your neighbor suddenly presents you a tray of homemade chocolate chip cookies (or something better). Express yourself, as you were meant to, and before you know it, there will be fewer questions in your life and more gratitude.
