There are many qualities or characteristics that will determine success, one of which is motivation, especially self-motivation. Because this is the quality that fuels actions; without it, people won’t have the drive to take necessary action to achieve their goals.But in the hustle and bustle society we are living in today, maintaining the flow of self-motivation can be a challenge. There are much negativities out there; it’s like driving through a jungle or foggy night. If you’re not careful, you might end up having an accidence.

In fact, life can be like going through a jungle; there are many disturbances. It’s almost impossible to go through it without a clear focus.

So, how do you continue to self motivate and propel yourself toward success in life?

Well, here are 6 self motivation tips that can help…

1. Have a clear goal in life. Without a goal in your life, it’s like driving through a foggy night without a flashlight. Your goal must be specific and has a timeline. You can have many goals in life, but try to narrow down and focus on only 1 or 2 goals at a time. Your goal is like a flashlight, it helps you to focus and see through the foggy night.

2. Let go of your EGO. Never allow your feelings to get in the way. Ego is essentially your pride in an over inflated form. You will need to watch your ego, a small dose of it is necessary to give you the self-esteem you need. But if your ego gets too large, it will blindfold you instead. So please be watchful of it. DO NOT get motivated to do something based on your ego. Instead, do it based on your insight or a clear realization of what is right or not right.

3. SURRENDER. This is the word that is often used in a negative sense such as quitting or defeated. However, I would like to use the word ’surrender’ in a positive sense. Essentially, it means to accept your present moment unconditionally and without reservation. If you want to maintain your motivation, you must not identify yourself with past mistakes and trying to live in the future. You learn from your past mistakes, set goals and take actions to accomplish your goals in the present moment. When you surrender, you become motivated to take necessary actions to move you closer to your goals instead of dwelling on the past.

4. Make it fun. Whatever you’ve set out to accomplish, make it fun and try to enjoy the journey. That way, you can focus on doing something with your best effort and enjoy it at the same time. This not only can help you to stay enthusiastic and motivated, but also keep the stress level down.

5. Reward yourself. Your self motivation will increase a great deal when you reward yourself for a job well done. The reward doesn’t have to be costly. For example, you can just reward yourself with a night off and go catch a movie. This not only can motivate or give you a sence of achievement, but also recharge your biological battery.

6. Read a self help book. Don’t underestimate the power of a book. It can help increase your self motivation enormously.
