Life Is About Making Choices And Decisions

Life is like a road. There are long and short roads; smooth and rocky roads; crooked and straight paths. In our life many roads would come our way as we journey through life. There are roads that lead to a life of single blessedness, marriage, and religious vocation. There are also roads that lead to fame and fortune on one hand, or isolation and poverty on the other. There are roads to happiness as there are roads to sadness, roads towards victory and jubilation, and roads leading to defeat and disappointment.

Just like any road, there are corners, detours, and crossroads in life. Perhaps the most perplexing road that you would encounter is a crossroad. With four roads to choose from and with limited knowledge on where they would go, which road will you take? What is the guarantee that we would choose the right one along the way? Would you take any road, or just stay where you are: in front of a crossroad?

There are no guarantees.

You do not really know where a road will lead you until you take it. There are no guarantees. This is one of the most important things you need to realize about life. Nobody said that choosing to do the right thing all the time would always lead you to happiness. Loving someone with all your heart does not guarantee that it would be returned. Gaining fame and fortune does not guarantee happiness. Accepting a good word from an influential superior to cut your trip short up the career ladder is not always bad, especially if you are highly qualified and competent. There are too many possible outcomes, which your really cannot control. The only thing you have power over is the decisions that you will make, and how you would act and react to different situations.

Wrong decisions are always at hindsight.

Had you known that you were making a wrong decision, would you have gone along with it? Perhaps not, why would you choose a certain path when you know it would get you lost? Why make a certain decision if you knew from the very beginning that it is not the right one. It is only after you have made a decision and reflected on it that you realize its soundness. If the consequences or outcomes are good for you, then you have decided correctly. Otherwise, your decision was wrong.

Take the risk and decide.

Since life offers no guarantee and you would never know that your decision would be wrong until you have made it, then you might as well take the risk and decide. It is definitely better than keeping yourself in limbo. Although it is true that one wrong turn could get you lost, it could also be that such a turn could be an opportunity for an adventure, moreover open more roads. It is all a matter of perspective. You have the choice between being a lost traveller or an accidental tourist of life. But take caution that you do not make decisions haphazardly. Taking risks is not about being careless and stupid. Here are some pointers that could help you choose the best option in the face of life’s crossroads:
·
Get as many information as you can about your situation.

You cannot find the confidence to decide when you know so little about what you are faced with. Just like any news reporter, ask the 5 W’s: what, who, when, where, and why. What is the situation? Who are the people involved? When did this happen? Where is this leading? Why are you in this situation? These are just some of the possible questions to ask to know more about your situation. This is important. Oftentimes, the reason for indecision is the lack of information about a situation.

Identify and create options.

What options do the situation give you? Sometimes the options are few, but sometimes they are numerous. But what do you do when you think that the situation offers no options? This is the time that you create your own. Make your creative mind work. From the most simplistic to the most complicated, entertain all ideas. Do not shoot anything down when an idea comes to your head. Sometimes the most outrageous idea could prove to be the right one in the end. You can ask a friend to help you identify options and even make more options if you encounter some difficulty, but make sure that you make the decision yourself in the end.

Weigh the pros and cons of every option.

Assess each option by looking at the advantages and disadvantages it offers you. In this way, you get more insights about the consequences of such an option.

Trust yourself and make that decision.

Now that you have assessed your options, it is now time to trust yourself. Remember that there are no guarantees and wrong decisions are always at hindsight. So choose… decide… believe that you are choosing the best option at this point in time.

Now that you have made a decision, be ready to face its consequences: good and bad. It may take you to a place of promise or to a land of problems. But the important thing is that you have chosen to live your life instead of remaining as a bystander or a passive audience to your own life. Whether it is the right decision or not, only time can tell. But do not regret it whatever the outcome. Instead, learn from it and remember that you always have the chance to make better decisions in the future.

Harness the Power of Positive Thinking thru Daily Positive Affirmation

We all have heard that positive thinking will result in a positive and more fulfilling life.  Positive people are happy people.  They manage stress better, they have better relationships, they are healthier, and they are happier and often more successful in their careers.  This isn’t to say that the only way you’re going to be healthy, happy, and successful is to put a smile on your face.

Everyone experiences bad days every now and then.  No matter how positive you’re as a person, you will have struggles and days where it is difficult to smile and look on the bright side.  The difference between the eternal optimist and the rest of us is that they have developed the ability to refocus their thoughts.  This is known as the art of positive thinking and they have practiced this life skill well.

The Science of Positive Thinking.

You’ve probably heard of the placebo effect.  It is what often happens to people who think that they’re getting medicine that will make them better or make their pain go away when they’re really getting nothing more than a sugar pill.  Scientists have long since attributed this effect to the ability of our mind to deceive us.

However, what scientists have found is actually quite different.  They have found that when a person receives a placebo, the body actually produces chemicals that simulate the same healing as the medicine would have if the person had received the medicine.

What does this mean?  When we convince ourselves that we’re going to get better, that things are going to get better, our bodies respond and actually make us better.  Think of the implications for yourself when you’re ill.  Maybe that’s why people that are always professing their good health are always healthy.

There’s even more good news for optimists too.  Scientists have found that optimists live longer.  Optimists have a 55 percent lower risk of death from all causes and 23 percent lower risk of death from heart failure.

Mastering the skill of positive thinking takes time, practice and patience.  One of the most effective tool you can use to master and refocus your thinking is Affirmation.

Affirmations are positive statements.  You can choose an affirmation to say each morning.  You can choose a statement to repeat to yourself throughout your day or you can post declarations in places where you’re likely to read them frequently.

Potential affirmations include:

  • Every day in every way I’m getting better, better and better.
  • Everything is coming to me easily and effortlessly.
  • Everything I need is already within me.
  • I love and appreciate myself just as I am.
  • I accept all my feelings as part of myself.
  • I love doing my work, and I am richly rewarded creatively and financially.
  • I always communicate clearly and effectively.
  • I now have enough time, energy, wisdom and money to accomplish all my desires.
  • It’s okay for me to have everything I want.

Use the above as a guide to design your own affirmation and practice it everyday.  Practice will make Improvement!

Power Of Self Improvement - Why Is It Important To Continue Improving Your Self

Sometimes when problems, doubts and fears get in our ways, we always come up with the idea of “I wish I was somebody else.”  More often than not, we think and believe that someone or rather, most people are better than us. But in reality, most people are actually more scared than us.

You see a man with his business suit casually sipping on a cup of coffee. You think to yourself, “he looks so perfectly calm and confident.” But if you could read thru his transparent mind, you might just be amazed that he worries about losing his job.

Isn’t it funny? We look at other people, envy them for looking so outrageously perfect and wish we could trade places with them, while they look at us and thinks of the same thing. We are insecure of other people who themselves are insecure of us. We suffer from low self-esteem and lack of self-confidence.

One key to self improvement is to LISTEN and TALK to a trusted friend. Find a friend who you can trust in opening up with even the most gentle topics you want to discuss. Ask questions like “do you think I am ill-mannered?”,  “Do I always sound so argumentative?”,  “Do I talk too loud?”,  “Does my breath smell?”,  “Do I ever bore you when we’re together?”.  In this way, the other person will obviously know that you are interested in the process of self improvement. Open up your mind and heart as well. And in return, you may want to help your friend with constructive criticism that will also help him/her to improve.

One of Whitney Houston’s songs says “Learning to love yourself is the greatest love of all.” True enough. In order to love others, you must love yourself too. Remember, you cannot give what you do not have.

Before telling other people some ways on how to improve themselves, let them see that you yourself is a representation and a product of self improvement. Self improvement makes us better people, we then inspire other people, and then the rest of the world will follow.

Stop thinking of yourselves as second-rate beings. Forget the repetitive thought of “If only I was richer… if only I was thinner” and so on.  Accepting your true self is the first step to self improvement. We need to stop comparing ourselves to others only to find out at the end that we’ve got 10 more reasons to envy them.

We all have our insecurities. Nobody is perfect. We always wish we had better fortunes, better home, better job, better body parts, etc. But life need not to be perfect for people to be happy about themselves. Self improvement and loving yourself is not a matter of shouting to the whole world that you are perfect and you are the best. It’s the virtue of acceptance and contentment. When we begin to improve ourselves, we then begin to feel contented and happy.

Make Positive Thinking Your Way Of Thinking

Have you ever met someone who seemed unbelievably happy and seemed to be able to handle every situation with grace? If you ask these people what their secret is, they will likely tell you that they do it all through positive thinking and acting. You may think that you just were not set up to work like that and think that positive thinking is beyond the scope of who you are. Not true.

You can make positive thinking a part of who you are at any time, you just have to believe in the power of positive thought and implement it. Positive thinking affirmations can teach you some beautiful things about the power of positive thought and, in less time than you would ever think possible, you will find yourself thinking good thoughts instead of drowning in negativity.

What are Positive Affirmations? How Will They Help Me?

Positive thinking truly is a state of being. Many of us don’t realize how important positive thinking affirmations are because we are too caught up in negativity. And negativity, after all, is toxic to our body, mind, spirit, and relationships. Positive affirmations can help you lead a happier, more fulfilling life starting right now. Why wait when you can start living the life that you deserve right now? Free positive affirmations can be something that you start to incorporate into your life right now, they don’t cost a penny and they don’t take much time, so now is the time to learn them and use them to change your life.

When you introduce positive thinking affirmations into your life, you will instantly start to feel the encouraging effects. Positive thinking affirmations basically work on the power of the subconscious mind. If you put the positive thoughts out there your mind will be constantly working towards them. It’s amazing how quickly this can happen and once you start looking at life in a more positive way you’ll want to keep going because it feels so good.

Did you know that positive thinking affirmations can help you live a healthier life? There are a number of studies that suggest that those who lead a positive life and make positive thinking a conscious decision are healthier and live longer. Even if you don’t necessarily believe in these studies, how about the studies that show that when you have a negative thought process that you are more likely to live a life full of disease and sickness? All of these studies put together show that positive thinking is important and a great way to get on the road to positive thinking and a positive life is through positive thinking affirmations. Through these affirmations you can make positive thought routine and eventually it will become second nature.

The importance of positive thinking is something that you should give some serious thought about. When you think positive thoughts you’ll lead a more positive life and you’ll feel better for it. If positive thought doesn’t come naturally to you, why not give positive thinking affirmations a try? You have nothing to lose and a happier, healthier lifestyle to gain.

What are the Effective Leadership Qualities?

In today hustle and bustle environment, do you feel that you don’t progress in accomplishing what you really want in life? Do you get frustrated because things don’t seem to be happening the way they’re supposed to be?  Then, maybe its time for you to stand up and do something about it.

Most people are content just to stand around listening for orders. And it isn’t unusual to adopt a follow-the-leader mentality. But maybe, somewhere inside of you, you feel the desire to make things happen – to be the head, not the tail. Then maybe it’s time to bring out your leadership attributes that had been buried inside you for so long.

Some people believe that great leaders are made, not born. Yes, it may be true that some people are born with natural talents. However, without practice, without drive, without enthusiasm, and without experience, there can be no true development in leadership.

You must also remember that good leaders are continually working and studying to improve their natural skills. This takes a commitment to constantly improve in whatever endeavor a person chooses.

There are many angles to define leadership but let’s us use the most basic definition of leadership in this article. To be a leader, one must be able to influence others to accomplish a goal, or an objective. He contributes to the organization and cohesion of a group.

Contrary to what most people believe, leadership is not about power. It is not about harassing people or driving them using fear. It is about encouraging others towards the goal of a vision. It is putting everyone on the same perspective and helping them see the big picture of your vision. You must be a leader not a boss.

Also, a leader must always has followers. If you turn back and look that there are nobody following you, you know that there is something wrong in your leadership!  But how do you get people to follow you?

People follow others when they see a clear sense of purpose. People will only follow you if they see that you know where you are going. Remember that bumper sticker? The one that says, don’t follow me, I’m lost too? The same holds true for leadership. If you yourself do not know where you’re heading to, chances are people will not follow you at all.

You yourself must know the big picture, the vision. Having a clear sense of purpose, having clear goals and objectives, and how the big picture fits together is the only way to show others you know what you are doing.

Being a leader is not about what you make others do. It’s about who you are, what you know, and what you do. You are a reflection of your vision.

Studies have shown that one other bases of good leadership is the trust and confidence your subordinates have of you. If they trust you they will go through hell and high water for you and for your organization.

Trust and confidence is built on good relationships, trustworthiness, and high ethics.

The way you deal with your people, and the relationships you build will lay the foundation for the strength of your group. The stronger your relationship, the stronger their trust and confidence is in your capabilities.

Once you have their trust and confidence, you may now proceed to communicate the goals and objectives you are to undertake.

Communication is a very important key to good leadership. Without this you can not be a good leader. The knowledge and technical expertise you have must be clearly imparted to other people.

Also, you can not be a good leader unless you have good judgment. You must be able to assess situations, weigh the pros and cons of any decision, and actively seek out a solution. It is this judgment that your subordinates will come to rely upon. Therefore, good decision-making is vital to the success of your vision.

Leaders are not do-it-all heroes. You should not claim to know everything, and you should not rely upon your skills alone. You should recognize and take advantage of the skills and talents your subordinates have. Only when you come to this realization will you be able to work as one cohesive unit.

Remember being a leader takes a good deal of work and time. It is not learned overnight. Remember, also, that it is not about just you. It is about you and the people around you.

So, do you have the drive and the desire to serve as a leader? Do you have the desire to work cooperatively with other people? If your answer is a resounding “yes”, then start now. Bring out the leader in you today.

How To Find Peace In Your Day

We live in a fast paced world and most of us have so many responsibilities on an every day basis that it’s often hard to find a moment of peace each day. If you feel like your world is spiraling out of control there is still a chance to find peace in your day. How? Well, it as simple as using peaceful affirmations each and every day.

Using affirmations can help you find the peace in your life, even if it is only for a few moments every day. You’ll feel grounded and focused on what really matters in your life.

Free positive affirmations are not hard to come by and they can help you cope with all of the demands on you.

How Peaceful Affirmations Work

If you have never used peaceful affirmations before you might find that they are easier to incorporate into your daily life than you would think. Peaceful affirmations are just little statements that you can say to yourself whenever you are in need of a bit of tranquility. Finding peace in your day may be as simple as reciting free positive affirmations to yourself on your way to work in the morning or before you go to bed at night. Reciting these things often creates a lifeline to peace that is very much needed by a lot of people.

Peace is often hard to come by when your boss is demanding things of you, your spouse is nagging you, and the kids are in need of attention. Instead of getting frustrated with the lack of peace surrounding you, why not create it for yourself? You can pause for just a few seconds and repeat peaceful affirmations that will help you feel more peaceful from within. When you are putting peaceful statements out there, your body and mind are opening up to receive that peace. After all, the only thing you can control is yourself and your thoughts. So if you choose peace, peace is sure to come back to you.

You’ll find that when you start using free positive affirmations on a regular basis that you feel better and are able to find a bit of peace in the most intense moments of your life. Not only will you benefit from this, but the people around you will be able to, as well. Because you feel more peaceful or have something to lean on in those crazy moments, you will be able to handle these situations with a more positive nature. When you approach situations like this everyone will realize it, and as a result they will likely be more positive and peaceful, as well. After all, it’s not just the bad attitudes that rub off on others - positive feelings can, too!

As you can see, peaceful affirmations are not just good for you, but they are good for those around you. If you find even one or two free positive affirmations that you can put to use, you’ll find that you are a lot more at peace and better able to handle the stresses that you deal with every day.

Many people believe that peace cannot be found, but this is not at all the case, sometimes you just have to create your own inner peace and this can easily be done with peaceful affirmations.

How To Become A Genuinely Happy Person?

Genuine Happiness Comes from Within

Life isn’t all roses and the sweetest candy. When you feel that life is going tough, try to look around and find people who continue to live fascinating and wonderful lives. How come they still can manage to laugh and play around despite a busy stressful life?  Then pause and observe for awhile… the place to start pondering is within yourself. So start looking inside instead of outside.

How does one become genuinely happy? Step 1 is to love yourself.

To love oneself means to accept that you are not a perfect being, but behind the imperfections must lie a great ounce of courage to be able to discover ways on how to improve your repertoire to recover from mistakes. When we discover a small start somewhere from within, that small start will eventually lead to something else, and to something else. But if you keep questioning and complaining about life, it’ll never do you any good and you will never be able to find genuine happiness.

Genuine happiness also pertains to contentment. When you are contented with the job you have, the way you look, with your family, your friends, the place you live in, your car, and all the things you now have – truly, you know the answer to the question “how to be genuinely happy.”

I believe that life is about finding out about right and wrong, trying and failing, wining and losing. These are things that happen as often as you inhale and exhale. Failure, in a person’s life has become as abundant and necessary as air. But this should not hinder us from becoming happy.

Imagine life as a big score board like those which are used in the NFLs. Every time you take a step forward, you make scoring points. Wouldn’t it be nice to look at that board at the end of each game and think to yourself  “Whew! I got a point today. I’m glad I gave it a shot.”, instead of looking at it all blank and murmur  “Geez, I didn’t even hit a score today. I wish I had the guts to try out. We could have won!” and then walk away.

Genuine happiness isn’t about driving the expensive car, nor getting the employee of the year award, earning the highest 13th month pay, or beating the sales quota. Sometimes, the most sought after prizes in life doesn’t always go to the fastest, the strongest, the bravest or not even the best. So, how do you become genuinely happy?  Every one has his own definition of ‘happiness’. Happiness for a writer may mean launching as much best selling books as possible. Happiness for a basketball rookie may mean getting the rookie of the year award. Happiness for a beggar may mean a lot of money. Happiness for a business man may mean success.

So, it’s actually really simple to become genuinely happy. You don’t have to have the best things in this world. Its about doing and making the best out of every single thing. When you find yourself smiling at your own mistake and telling your self “ Oh, I’ll do better next time”, you carry with you a flame of strong will power to persevere that may spread out like a bush fire. It’s about enjoying the simple pleasure of life, to enjoy the moments, even how insignificant it may be – that will make you a genuinely happy person.

When you learn to accept yourself and your own faults. You pass step 1 in the project “how to become genuinely happy”.  For as long as you know how to accept others, you will also be accepted. For as long as you love and know how to love, you will receive love ten folds back.
