Tips For Living A Debt Free Life - Practice Economy In Your Life

There are many things you can do to stay out of debt. I have discussed some of them in the personal finance [http://www.leonlioe.com/category/personal-finance] section. This article will provide more tips to help you not only get rid of your debt but also live a debt free life. I’m going to share with you a few ways of practicing economy in your life which can help you to be debt free forever.

Some of the things discussed here are common sense, but sometimes common sense can be ‘uncommon’. So don’t feel bad if you look at these and think that you should have thought of them yourself - most of the time it’s the things which are under our nose that we notice the last.

In order to practice economy in your life, you must always remember to perform the following action steps…

  • The first rule of practicing some economy in your life is to set yourself a spending budget according to your earning ability, and then stick to it - no exceptions!
  • Learn to keep track of what you’re spending, then and there. Don’t leave it till the night time, the next day, or even the end of the week. This can lead to disaster. Instead, keep track of how much you are spending each time you buy something. This way, you can have a running total in your head about the money you have spent so far.

If all you ever do is spend in 5’s and 10’s then there’s a better than even chance that you will never notice that you have spent over a $100 without even thinking about it.

And although $10 or even $20 might not seem like all that much to spend, by the time your total reaches that $40 or $70 mark, you will begin to feel the burn. Keeping a tally of what you spend will make it less likely that you will ever reach that $100 mark unless it’s for something that you really need, or unless it’s for your round of weekly shopping.

  • Leave your credit cards at home when you’re going shopping - this is a better way for you to get your shopping done, because this way you know that you won’t be spending more than you can afford.

And if you really want and need whatever it is that you are thinking of buying, you always have the option of rushing home and getting your card to come back and buy it. That way, you have some time to think it over instead of buying something on impulse.

  • When you are paying off your credit cards, and there are new offers from the banks, please try your very best not to look at them and instead throw them away. That way, you can be certain that you are not mounting more debt. If you do use a credit card, make sure you pay the bill off on time.
  • If you have any spare cash lying around, don’t go and spend it on a new dress, or a new drill or even on a nice lunch or dinner out. Put it to better use and pay off your debts faster. This way, you will definitely have spare cash lying around later on when you have managed to pay off all your debts.

These are the ways to stay out of debt forever. If you are not consciously doing the steps above, you are practicing a false economy and you will soon be getting into debt again.

However, there are circumstances where you have to spend more than you can afford, but this should only be for those things which you absolutely must have but which are too expensive for you to pay back within the first month. This means that you will have to defray the costs to the next month as well, but this is perfectly alright as long as you control your spending on your credit card for the next month and as long as you pay off the additional expenses as soon as possible.

We all have stress in our life; some people choose to deal with stress negatively while others choose to deal with it positively. If not managed properly, stress can build up and becomes harmful to our health. There is no such thing as a stress-free life as stress is always around us and we can’t avoid it either. We could however, develop strategies for a stress-proof life.

This article walks you through some simple strategies you could develop to cope with your stress.

Learn To Have Fun

All works and no fun could lead to boredom and then stress. There are many ways to have fun; one of the most effective ways is to pick up a hobby. There are many hobbies to choose from. For example, hobbies that are related to animals such as bird watching, dog breeding, etc. Hobbies that are related to arts such as calligraphy, figure painting, drawing, etc. Other examples are cooking, photography, gardening, home repair, etc. The list is literally endless. Hobbies are an important part of a relaxation process; they help to take your mind away from a routine life.

Taking Care Of Your Health

Yes, it’s important to love and respect other people; but also remember to Love Thyself. Take good care of your body, this can help you to improve your self-esteem and self-confidence. Low self-esteem and poor health are seeds for stress. Taking care of one’s health involves the following four steps: Breathe Right; Eat Right; Exercise Regularly; and Rest Well. You can find many articles on the Internet for these four subjects; so I won’t elaborate them again in this article.

Ask For Support

When stress builds up, you will tend to blame yourself and this usually leads to more stress. Do not feel helpless and do not build a wall around you when you are feeling stressed; you are only hiding the problems inside you and it can become a time-bomb. Don’t let that happens to you. Talk to close friends or family members; ask for their support. Often times, simply talking about the problems you have with a close friend can take the stress away. Try it, it works.

Spiritual Practices

Lifestyle with a strong spiritual foundation is generally a healthier lifestyle. Many people use prayers as stress reliever. Prayers can also maintain emotional stability. However, never use prayers as excuses; use it to obtain a peaceful mind and then work hard to go for your gold. Practicing meditation can also help you clear you mind in stressful situations. Spiritual practice is a personal experience/belief and if done correctly, can surely nurture your soul.

These are just few strategies you can use to build a stress-proof life.

How To Deal With Your Personal Debts - Tips On Dealing With Personal Debts

The first step in dealing with your debts is WANTING to do something about it. Without a desire of doing something, nothing will ever happen! If you have debts, you better start to think how to put a stop on them before they’re taking over your life. If you want to be able to live a debt free life in the future and get on with your life, you will need to get rid of your debts.

Below are some of the steps you need to take first in order to get out of your debts…

  • First, you need to make a list of all the debts and loans that you have, or in other words, make a list of all of your creditors, making sure to list every single one so that your calculations don’t go off later on.
  • Next, you need to find out how much you owe.
  • Then you need to find out how much you can pay each month.
  • Then you need to find out which option of repayment is the one for you.

Find out whom do you owe to…

This can be a fairly simple or complicated process depending on how many creditors you have. But always start at one end first. That way, you will find that it is easier to proceed on. So start gathering together the paperwork or things which will tell you exactly how much you have accumulated over the months and years.

Go through this pile, and sort them out into groups which make sense to you. For instance, I went through my pile of debts and notices and sorted them according to two different criteria.

My first requirement was to find and isolate those payments which I had missed out on and which more or less needed to be paid immediately. My next requirement was to sort things out into the order of the highest amount or the highest interest rate.

What I had done basically was to prioritize my debts in a manner which I could relate to. You can do the same, but since your priorities aren’t necessarily going to be the same as mine, you can always change things around to suit you.

For instance, you could prioritize your debts according to…

  • Urgency of repayment
  • Missed payments
  • Highest amounts to be paid
  • Highest interest rates
  • The type of loan you have, i.e. credit card, personal, house, car etc.
  • By creditor, if you have more than one loan with a creditor.

Once you have sorted things out according to your priorities, you can then set about the business of putting things down on paper. This is a crucial step as otherwise you will find that you are forever sorting through the piles and piles of paper that you have.

And you will also want to remember to note down at this time other payments which you might have to make, such as spousal support or child support or other such payments as this is also a type of debt that you have to pay off.

How To Conquer Stress - Tips For Conquering Stress

This article provides many successful and proven techniques you can practice to conquer stress. They are not that difficult to learn at all and won’t cost you an arm and a leg.

Conquering stress is not as difficult as it seems; most people suffer from stress because they feel the sense of loss of control. There are many successful ways you can practice to seize or take back the control you want. Here are a dozen things you can try to do just that.

Yoga, Tai-Chi and similar disciplines from Asia have been effective for centuries in helping people to relieve stress. Please understand that there is no association between Yoga and a specific religion; you don’t need to adopt certain belief in order to practice yoga. Like meditation, yoga upholds peace and harmony; this is its most important principle. The physical techniques in both Yoga and Tai-Chi loosen up the muscles and help focus and relax the mind.

Meditation has also been practiced for centuries. It’s easy to learn and has many benefits. The focus is to calm the mind and move it away from the stressors. Perhaps you already know that stress always starts in our minds; it’s something that intimidate our mind. So, the key is to train our mind to perceive and interpret something that’s going on in the mind in a more positive way so that it can become something that is not so intimidating. If we could learn how to meditate for as little as 20-30 minutes per day, it can go a long way toward conquering the stress symptoms that bug us. There is also evidence that meditation if practiced properly, can have positive benefits on our physical health as well.

Deep breathing exercise is also another effective way to counter stress symptoms. Try this: lie face down on the floor on a large towel, elbows bent with your hands flat on the floor. The backs of your hands should be under your chest. Now inhale and exhale slowly and deeply, repeat the breathing for 15-20 times.

If you’re in a car and feel agitated because you got stuck in a traffic jam, just place your left hand on your stomach and breathe slowly. You should feel that your stomach expands as you inhale and contracts as you exhale. This is the right way to breathe. Deep breathing won’t take away the stress but it can lessen it quickly. And it’s a good first step toward conquering your stress.

Dietary supplements can also help but the problem is that there are so many varieties, and most of them are literally useless. So, to recommend you to use a specific brand is often always prone to error. As a side note, anything which helps elevate serotonin levels is likely to help. However, beware of those that have outrageous claims and promise miracle cures.

Some mild drugs such as a sleeping aid can be useful on occasion. However, the risk is becoming dependent on them not tackling on the root cause. But small doses of it and couple with some other stress buster program, it can prove to be very beneficial as it could help the patient to have a good rest or sleep. A proper rest is essential in conquering stress.

Although there is little scientific evidence, aromatherapy coupled with ‘mood music’ could serve as a magic pill for some people. Our memories are said to be fond of certain smells and the smells could trigger a happy event in our memory. It’s the same with music, many believe that our feelings can be altered by certain kind of music.

A good massage can also be a great way to conquer stress, particularly combined with aromatherapy and relaxing music. One of the most common cause of stress is muscle tension, especially in the neck, shoulders and calves. Massage can help loosen up muscles in these parts of our body.
