How To Let Go of Your EGO - Leave Your EGO At The Door!
Ego is essentially an inflated form of pride; an exaggerated sense of self-importance and a feeling of superiority to other people.
If used in a positive way, a small dose of ego is important as it can help boost your self-esteem and confidence. But be watchful of it NOT to get over inflated.
When your ego gets inflated too much, you allow your unconscious mind to take over and demand for a self identification; meaning that you’re now being identified by your unconscious mind.
The unconscious mind is a realm of thoughts, feelings, urges, and memories that outside of your conscious awareness. Most of the contents in the realm of unconscious mind are unpleasant and distasteful, such as unhappiness, feelings of pain, anxiety, or conflict.
Therefore, in order to let go of your ego, you must avoid being identified by your unconscious mind. This leads to the next question…
How do you stop being identified by your unconscious mind?
Well, the first thing you need to do is ACCEPTANCE. Meaning: to accept who and what you are NOW and express gratitude for what you already have. The moment you tell yourself to accept “what is NOW”; you immediately command your mind to shift focus to your conscious awareness. You have now seized back control from your mind; you remind yourself that you’re the master of your mind.
When you’re able to act as a watcher or observer of your mind and maintain a high level of your consciousness, EGO simply will disappear. The EGO will still be there but it’s now become sort of transparent to you. Meaning that it can no longer hurt you.
When you are at this conscious state, your body is filled with all positive energy fields. Nothing can hurt your ego anymore. Even when there is somebody saying something rude or designed to hurt you, instead of responding with your unconscious reaction, you let it pass right through you. This is what I mean by being transparent.
However, you’re still fully aware of your surrondings as you still can tell that person that his or her behaviour is unacceptable. But that person cannot hurt your ego anymore as though there is nothing there to get hurt anymore.
You can practice transparency to pacify your ego in your day-to-day activities. For example: let’s say you’re sitting quietly at your home. Suddenly, there is dog barking from your neighbor. Instead of feeling irritated, feel yourself becoming transparent and just let the noise pass right through you, as it were without a protective wall inside you that gets hit and hurt.
You can start practicing this with little things in your daily activities such as children screaming, dog barking, traffic jam, rude encounter, etc.
Practice what you have learnt in this article daily and you will soon find it becomes very natural for you to leave your ego at the door. You will also feel more inner-peace and happiness in your life.
