First, what is self-esteem? Simply put, self-esteem is your self worth, the value of YOU. People who have low self esteem don’t respect themselves. They see themselves have no self worth and they have an inner voice that is continually criticizing themselves.
Losing your self esteem is like losing your goals in life. If not properly dealt with, you will lose your self confidence and become very unhappy and depressed. Low self esteem will damage your career and social life, it will also lead to serious health problems.
The first step in building back a low self esteem is to stop that negative inner voice and switch it to a positive one. You must first learn to respect yourself and gradually build your self confidence. Stay home this weekend and read the book, it will give you the motivation and confidence to change. After that set a small and achievable goal, and work on it until you achieve your goal.
Here are some tips for building your self esteem:
1. Stop talking negatively and start talking positively to yourself.
2. Face your fears. FEAR is not that fearful when you stare on its eyes. Remember, it’s not the intensity of the fear that makes you fearful but rather your low self esteem and lack of confidence that make you to become fearful. So gather your courage and face your fear. More often than not the fear will disappear when you actually stare at it.
3. Forget your past failures and forgive yourself. Focus on your future.
4. Reward yourself when you achieve a goal (no matter how small the goal is). This will help to boost your self confidence and build back your self esteem.
