Life Is Not A Linear Journey | Cycles of Life

-->

And in the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.”  ~ Abraham Lincoln.

Although our age is increased by one every year… it doesn’t represent our life… it doesn’t represent wisdom either. Therefore… age is just a number that represents how long you have been alive!

In fact, life is going in a cycle…. just take a look at the months in our calendar… it goes from January to December and then back to January again. Look at the clock we use to measure time… it goes from 1 to 12 and back to 1 again…

It seems like life is going in a linear journey… BUT if we look closer…. it really doesn’t work that way.

I found a great article that talks about this topic… I republish it here for your convenience… Happy Reading….

Shh! Here is an Important Self-Improvement Secret – Life is About Cycles

By Praveen C. Puri

“The water flows, but back into the ocean; The moon sinks, but is even in Heaven.” – Zen Proverb.

How can we apply this teaching to our lives?

This quote deals with the cycles of life. As I have developed mentally and spiritually, I have come to the realization that the secret to success and happiness is to think of life as cycles – not linearly with a start and an end-point. In other words, don’t focus on how the years are going by. Instead, focus on how the months and seasons keep coming and going. This is the way life really works.

Thinking, “2008 and 2009 is gone, we are now in 2010…” is not practical. Instead, it is more helpful and realistic to stay “it’s March – winter is ending, and spring is starting”.

Water flows away, and the moon sets – but they are going somewhere, and they will return. Life has hills and valleys, ups and downs. Roll with the punches.

Weather, fashions, ideas – they all repeat. What is out of style now, will come back. What is hot today, will fade. If you look outside in winter, and see a snow-covered lawn, you can imagine a hot summer day with thick grass and flowers. This situation will occur again. Also, you can visualize that the lawn will become snow covered again.

People try to motivate by saying life is too short – get going. But don’t rush. Life might not be very long in terms of years, but it is packed with repeating opportunities.

Opportunity definitely does not knock only once. It will keep ringing your doorbell, but in slightly different outfits.

What would your life be like if you had the unshakable self-confidence and knowledge to pursue your dreams and passions? To build wealth, financial independence, and satisfying relationships? What if your happiness “baseline” was set so low that normal activities filled you with joy?
