Self Improvement Starts with Positive Thinking

With all of the self-help books available, as well as books on meditation and inner healing, it is clear that self-improvement begins with one idea.  Thinking positive thoughts that lifts you up and make you feel wonderful.

If you think happy, you’ll be happy.  If negativity and self-doubt invades your psyche, it will eventually cause ill health.  Where does one begin?  It’s simple really.  Take stock of your life and your lifestyle.  Get rid of things that control you and begin to control your life.  Become acquainted with friends and co-workers who view life from a different perspective, one that is bright and light.

Here is one practical method I always do to get rid of my negative thoughts and replace them with positive ones:

Start listen to your “internal dialogue”. Use a piece of paper and divide it into two columns: write one column as “negative thoughts” and another as “positive thoughts”. For example, if you find yourself saying “I can’t do it” then write it down in the negative thoughts column and then simply write “I can do it” in the positive thoughts column. Very simple!

Another example: “Life isn’t always rosy”.  It is the little things we say openly that influences how we feel and act.  Instead, you can say: “Life is great and I will live each moment of every day” or just simply write: “I am happy to be alive.”

Life is like music.  If you hear or play a wrong note it makes you squirm.  When you listen to a symphony of sounds that inspire and delight you.  You will begin to gather positive energy and start your journey towards self-improvement.

Self-improvement begins with understanding who you are and who you want to be.  It’s a re-examination of your life in minute detail.   Eventually, however, the path not formerly taken will lead you not only to a more positive outlook, but you will command and articulate a new set of words that will guide you to a healthy and happy life.
