The scene you notice everyday where people are racing around with their high-tech gadgets while sorting out their daily tasks is becoming very common in today fast-paced world. At times, it seems like our world is whirling out of control. The ongoing and constant demands of works, home, and family responsibilities are just overwhelming. Soon enough, stress will start to creep in and cause great angst in your life. If not dealt with, stress can have a devastating effect on your life.

  • Take a deep breath. You can do this while sitting at your desk at work, breathing exercises can bring you back to a calm state.
  • Don’t strive for perfection. More often than not, most people with A-type personalities are prime candidates for stress induced symptoms due to their demand for perfection in everything they do. Realize that this is not a perfect world and you aren’t perfect either.
  • Talk things over. Don’t suppress your problem. Share it with a friend, family or someone at work, listen to what they have to say. The act of talking things over will help you put your problem in perspective.

Whenever possible, change into your sports wear, go outside and start walking or running for 30 minutes. This will help to release endorphins which relieve stress.
  • Listen to classical musics. This can help lower your blood pressure and bring calm within you. I love to listen to classical musics while jogging outside.
  • Watch a funny show. I bought a few Charlie Chaplin’s DVDs the other day. I have seen most of them when I was a kid. It’s always very hilarious watching this great comedy actor. I never get bored watching his show. Just watch for 20 minutes, your stress will disappear.

Stress, if not acted upon, will cause serious health problems. Always strive to learn ways to relieve stress and avoid it at all costs.
